On Friday, September 14th, Ed Brown '92, Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Rochester and his wife, Ania Majewska, a professor of Neurobiology and Anatomy at the University of Rochester, together gave the special alumni colloquium entitled, "Applications of multiphoton laser-scanning microscopy: transport in tumors" and "Applications of multiphoton laser-scanning microscopy: synaptic function" . Prof. Brown also gave the regular Physics Seminar on Thursday, September 13th entitled " Studying the tumor extracellular matrix using second harmonic generation ". We greatly enjoyed both talks, as Prof. Brown is knowledgeable, and speaks with enthusiasm and wit.
The Homecoming Reception, held at 12:30-2 PM on Saturday, September 15th, brought together many alumni and their families and current faculty members of the Physics Department. Everyone enjoyed catching up on personal news and hearing about new developments at Wake Forest. It was a beautiful day with autumn-like weather and it was great to see our team win its first football game of the season, defeating Army 21-10. Go Deacs!
