Department Participates in Charity 5k Run

On Saturday, October 23, 2010, members of the Department of Physics participated in Outback's Bonzer 5k, a charity race to benefit research for Friedreich's Ataxia. Graduate students Nicholas Lepley, Chen Liu, Chad McKell, Yoachuan Mei, Xiao Xu, postdoc Christine Carlisle, and Professor Martin Guthold all took part in the event. Of the 118 participants, Nicholas Lepley placed second overall while Chad McKell, Yoachuan Mei, Christine Carlisle and Martin Guthold placed in the top three in their respective age groups.

Physics was challenged to compete as a group against the chemistry department and prevailed. Congratulations to the participants for taking the team trophy in this friendly competition.
