Manuscript Information

Papers presented at SCINT07 may be submitted for review and publication in a special conference issue of the Transactions on Nuclear Science (TNS). The TNS is a premier peer-reviewed journal with a significant distribution within the nuclear science and medical imaging communities. Only those papers that pass the review process will be published. Prospective authors should consult the TNS page at www.ieee.org for a description of the publication. TNS discourages the submission of progress reports and manuscripts that are more suitable for distribution as an institution's internal document. We expect each manuscript to be cast in the context of the state of the art of its field, including appropriate motivation for the work, to present a complete description of the work performed, and to present a set of conclusions supported by the measured and/or calculated data.

Submission and review of manuscripts for the conference issue will be handled the same as for all TNS submissions, through Manuscript Central™ (MC) on the IEEE TNS website http://tns-ieee.manuscriptcentral.com/.  In early May, a “SCINT07” category will be created in MC, and manuscript submissions will be accepted from mid May until June 22.  After the deadline, the “SCINT07” category will disappear, but late manuscripts may be submitted for publication in the standard non-conference issues of TNS. Three reviewers, some of whom may be and some of whom may not be associated with the conference, will be assigned to each manuscript.  Reviews and revised manuscripts are submitted to the editors through MC until the paper is accepted or rejected.  Presentation at the conference does not guarantee acceptance for the conference issue of TNS.  Only manuscripts that correspond to conference presentations (oral or poster) will be considered for publication in the SCINT07 conference issue of TNS.  The established review and editorial criteria of TNS will apply. TNS has an 8 page limit for manuscripts, although exceptions can be  made when strongly justified.  There is an extra charge for color figures.  The conference issue will likely be published in April 2008.  It will be widely available in electronic form as well as the printed journal, and a paper-bound copy of the TNS issue containing the conference issue will be distributed to each SCINT participant.
