The Wake Forest Physics Department congratulates Dr. Chaochao Dun, Ph.D. 2017, on his selection to C&EN’s 2026 Talented 12, an annual list recognizing young scientists whose work is making a meaningful impact.

Dr. Dun completed his Ph.D. in Physics at Wake Forest University, where he was mentored by Professor David Carroll and Professor Natalie Holzwarth. He is now a Project Scientist at the Molecular Foundry at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. His research focuses on developing new methods for synthesizing high-entropy materials and understanding their properties for potential applications in energy and advanced technologies. By using non-equilibrium processing methods, Dr. Dun’s work challenges the conventional boundaries of equilibrium chemistry and physics and expands the possibilities for materials discovery.
