Dr. Taylor Ordines of Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory will present “Geometry and dynamics of attainable sets of interacting decision makers” at the Wake Forest Physics Colloquium on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 4 p.m. in Olin 101. A reception will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the Olin lobby.

Systems such as satellite operators and supply-chain controllers make decisions using partial or delayed information. Ordines will discuss methods for determining the outcomes these interacting decision makers can produce and how those possibilities change with the system’s information and connections.

The talk will connect geometry, linear programming, and statistical mechanics, with examples from information-fusion networks and satellite operations in low-Earth orbit. It will also address mathematical proofs and auto-formalization using Lean4.

Ordines earned his Ph.D. in physics at Wake Forest in 2022 under Eric Carlson, studying quantum field theory in curved spacetime and alternative theories of gravity. He also earned a Wake Forest MBA in 2020.
