Lee Pryor defends M.S. thesis on alternate gravity
Congratulations to Lee Pryor, who successfully defended his M.S. thesis in physics at Wake Forest on October 23, 2026. His adviser is Eric D. Carlson.

His thesis, “Comparing an f(R,T) alternate gravity theory with type Ia supernovae and exploring a limiting case,” examines an alternative model of gravity and compares its predictions with observations of exploding stars in the Pantheon type Ia supernova dataset. The work explores whether the model could account for the universe’s accelerated expansion.
Pryor recently joined the instructional lab management team in Yale University’s physics department, where his work includes operating a Van de Graaf accelerator and preparing physics demonstrations.
